Caring for Retainers
- During the first 6 months, retainers must be worn at all times, even when you are sleeping.
- When the retainers are not in your mouth, they are to be placed in the retainer case that was provided. This will avoid accidentally misplacing and/ or throwing away the retainer.
- It is acceptable to remove retainers when you are eating and brushing your teeth.
- Be sure when removing retainers to gently lift with fingernails back to front and vice versa.
- Use a wet toothbrush with lukewarm water to clean the retainers. Do not use toothpaste! This will ruin the shine and transparency of the retainers.
- Retainers will warp and become un-wearable if exposed to high temperatures!
- Do not leave retainers in a hot car
- Do not throw retainers in the washer or dryer
- Do not clean in hot water
- Be sure to promptly notify us if your retainer is lost or damaged.
